GPI has come a long way since 1966, when Gontermann-Peipers (India) Ltd. (GPI) was promoted in technical and financial collaboration with Gontermann-Peipers GmbH, Germany, a front-ranker in the manufacture of Rolls since 1825.  In 1981 the Company was taken over by the Ispat Group, and GPI, was on the growth track. A massive expansion and modernisation programme along with induction of state-of-the-art technology has put GPI on the leading edge.

Fine-tuned to industry’s requirement, GPI has always been able to innovate and supply efficient productive solutions tailored to customer’s need. Result : a product line that commands a major share of the domestic market. Abroad, GPI rolls have been widely appreciated in countries like Japan, USA, Canada, China, South Africa, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia along with 25 other countries. This flourishing export market has enabled GPI to receive the EEPC Excellence Award for 6 consecutive years for being the highest exporter of rolling mill rolls from India.  Another feather was added to GPI’s cap when it become the first roll foundry in the country to receive the prestigious ISO-9002 certification, in recognition of it’s Quality Systems.  GPI is equally concerned with the conservation of the environment as a responsible Corporate Citizen. Accordingly the company is striving for ISO 14001 accreditation also.
